    How the dice roller works

Choose how many dice (1 to 6) and how many sides each die has, then press Roll. You'll see each die and the total. Every face has the same chance: 1 in 6 on a d6, 1 in 20 on a d20.

Wheelova uses your browser's crypto.getRandomValues(). According to MDN, browsers implement it as a cryptographically secure pseudo-random generator seeded with system entropy — the same kind of source used for security features. It is unpredictable in practice, but it is not a physical "true random" device such as atmospheric-noise generators.

Two dice: why 7 comes up most

With one die, every number is equally likely. With two dice added together, they aren't — there are more ways to make 7 than any other total:

    TotalWays to roll itChance
    2 or 1212.8%
    3 or 1125.6%
    4 or 1038.3%
    5 or 9411.1%
    6 or 8513.9%
    7616.7%

That's why 7 matters so much in games like Catan and craps. The dice roller adds the total for you, so it works for any game that uses sums.

    Ideas

Board games: replace lost dice, or roll for a game that needs more dice than you have.

Tabletop RPGs: quick d20 checks or damage rolls when you're away from your dice bag.

Maths lessons: roll two dice 50 times, record the totals and compare with the table above.

Decisions: number your options 1–6 and roll. For more than six options, use the Online Spinner.

    Questions

How many dice can I roll at once?

Up to six dice of the same type per roll.

    Can I roll a d20?

Yes. Choose 20 sides. Each face has a 1 in 20 (5%) chance.

Is the virtual dice roller fair?

Yes. Every face has the same chance, chosen by your browser's cryptographically secure random generator, and each roll is independent.

What's the most likely total with two dice?

    7, with a 1 in 6 (16.7%) chance. 2 and 12 are least likely, at 1 in 36 each.

Can I use it for Dungeons & Dragons?

Yes for single-type rolls like 1d20 or 3d6. For mixed rolls such as 1d8+1d6, roll each type separately.
