How to use the truth or dare wheel

01

Choose a deck: Kids or Teens & party.

02

Spin to land on Truth or Dare.

03

Read the prompt in the popup — answer the truth or do the dare, then pass to the next player.

How the Truth or Dare wheel works

Spin the wheel to land on Truth or Dare. The popup then shows a random prompt from the deck you chose — a question to answer honestly, or a challenge to do. With the default wheel, Truth and Dare each have a 50% chance; use More truths or More dares to tilt it (4 of 6 slices = about 67%).

Wheelova uses your browser's crypto.getRandomValues(). According to MDN, browsers implement it as a cryptographically secure pseudo-random generator seeded with system entropy — the same kind of source used for security features. It is unpredictable in practice, but it is not a physical "true random" device such as atmospheric-noise generators.

Two decks, 80 clean prompts

Kids2020Family game nights, classrooms, younger groups
Teens & party2020Sleepovers, youth groups, parties, team socials

Both decks are written to be fun without being harmful: no dares that are dangerous, cost money, involve posting online or touch on anything private. Every prompt is suitable for mixed groups.

How to play

  1. Sit in a circle and agree who goes first — spin the Name Picker Wheel if nobody wants to.
  2. Spin for Truth or Dare. The player reads the prompt in the popup.
  3. Answer or do it. If a player really doesn't want to, they can use a pass (agree how many each player gets before you start).
  4. Pass the turn to the left and spin again.

Ground rules that keep it fun

  • Anyone can pass. Truth or Dare only works when everyone feels safe saying no.
  • No dares that could hurt someone or damage anything.
  • Nothing goes online. No posting, messaging or recording anyone without their clear okay.
  • Keep secrets in the room. What someone shares as a truth stays in the game.
  • Adults set the level for kids' groups — remove any prompt you think doesn't suit your group.

Use your own questions

Want custom prompts? Type your own truths and dares straight into the entry box, one per line — for example "Truth: What's your dream holiday?" or "Dare: Sing a nursery rhyme". The wheel then lands directly on those. Use Share link to send your custom game to friends.

Classroom and team versions

In class, swap "Dare" for "Do" and use quick, curriculum-friendly prompts: "Name three prime numbers", "Spell your favourite word backwards". For team icebreakers, keep truths light — favourite holiday, hidden talent, first job — and dares simple, like a 10-second impression.

Questions

How do I play Truth or Dare with the wheel?

Choose a deck, spin to land on Truth or Dare, and read the random prompt in the popup. Answer the truth or do the dare, then pass to the next player.

Are the questions safe for kids?

Yes. The Kids deck is written for younger players, and both decks avoid anything dangerous, private or inappropriate. Adults can remove any prompt that doesn't suit their group.

Can I add my own truths and dares?

Yes. Type them into the entry box, one per line, and the wheel lands directly on your prompts.

Can I make truths more likely than dares?

Yes. Use the More truths preset, which gives Truth 4 of 6 slices (about 67%).

What if someone doesn't want to do their dare?

Let them pass. Agree before the game how many passes each player gets — the game only works when everyone can say no.

How many prompts are there?

80 in total: 20 truths and 20 dares in each of the two decks.
